Wierd starting issue

True. First time I was going to change my fuel filter I tried disconnecting it and truck kept running, a little rough but kept idling.

Hongerstruck, Once in the real-time gauges long press on a open spot. It will ask you if you want to add a gauge. Then you pick which style gauge you want. Next it will give you all the options to pick from, scroll down to fuel rail pressure. It should be highlighted as one that gives data, bingo you should be set. Let me know what you come up with, thanks.

Ok didnt know that. Still not the FPDM as it runs great like I've said all the time except the starting issue, that I can duplicate after it sits. Plus I'm losing fuel pressure with key on truck off, so its bleeding back into fuel pump or leaking injector. Next thing I can try is put a gauge on fuel line and isolate the pump then I'll know for sure.

Truck went in to get the new fuel pump put in. Mechanic called and said a lot of the wiring to fuel system was rotted and corroded so he thinks this may be the problem. Also my FPDM is about 1 1/2 yrs old, anyone have a new one of these go bad? Also would the truck still run if FPDM was bad?

How did you or they figure it was the injectors? I've had starting issues for a long time now. Maybe not exactly like yours but similar. Usually starts fine in the morning but almost always has a weak, strange crank after that throughout the day. Sometimes an extended crank. I have basically all new parts like battery, starter, fuel pump, fpcm , filters and so on. I've suspected injectors which are remans and not that old. I"ve pulled my fuel rail several times to look for drips, leaking but never seem to really see anything obvious. I'm not sure what normal is and its hard to see some of the injectors well when the fuel rail is pulled. I have the torque pro and pressure looks good but maybe its deceiving as to any fuel issues. It drives me nuts, but other wise the truck runs good. Thanks

Tommy, yours sound exactley like mine. I got a reader and confirmed I was loosing fuel pressure after shut off. I went around and around a little and couple of guys including ford dealer thought it was fuel pump, luckily the shop I was gonna have do it didnt think it was pump. So what they did and what I should have just done in the first place was just remove the fuel rail with the injectors and pressurize it and see which injectors leak. There is a youtube video on how to remove fuel rail. Not terrible but like everything else on these damn motors its hard to get at some stuff.

No worries? I'll ask the shop what they did, he made it sound like they lifted the whole rail with all the injectors and pressurized it and could easily see the two leaking. I used torque pro, add a gauge and scroll down to add fuel rail pressure. Then run the truck, turn truck off then turn key back to on but don't start truck. Your fuel pump will cycle and pressurize the system. Then just let it sit lime that for awhile. Mine would drop down to like 10psi in about 15 minutes.
