i have a high pitched squeel noise coming from under the hood when i push the gas. if im light on the gas it will be a long squeel. and if i punch it, it only squeels for a quick second. im 99% sure it not the belt or any of the belt drivin componits. What could it be? its a 04 4x4 4.6l supercab with 50k on it if that helps any. thanks in advance

I had a problem with my alternator bearing...get that checked out, its real simple to fix and cheap too.

Why are you so sure its not the belt? Does it happen at idle? If it does, pop the hood and watch the engine while a buddy revs it for you. That should at least let you pinpoint the location of the noise.

hey boss check your idler pulley, I just had to change mine cuz the bearings took a ****. Its more of a grinding noise. Metal on metal................ Check it out and let me know what happens.

i will check out the alternator and i dont think its the belts because i have had those problems before and it sounds a lot different. this nosie sounds a lot like the annoying mosquito ring tone people have. and yeah i replaced the idler pulley like 3k ago and it sounds different so i doubt its that
