Do a search, there are quite a few threads on it.

There's a youtube video that demonstrates this as well. See if it matches your noise.

I have this issue and it is the alt bearing, however....a slight whistle in a small rpm range and a whistle at start up when its below 30, is not bad enough for me to spend $$$ on a new one.

To each their own. I hate knowing something is wrong with my truck. I think it was under 100 for a reman alt (and 15 mins of my time to install).

Not downplaying anything...if you had read the whole post he said he found a TB spacer which was most likely the cause of his whistle...you told him to replace his alt without even doing any troubleshooting...some people can't afford throwing parts at a whistle noise...

"Most likely" doesn't mean that's the issue. I'm just chiming in offering some useful advice maybe it'll help someone else. Seems like better advice than "Mine don't whistle derhurrrr".

Not putting it past the alt but at the same time I can tell it's coming from the back side of the motor and it sounds exactly like if you were to have the air filter not on all the way. I have listened to some of the alt noises and doesn't sound like mine. My whistle is a higher pitch than the alt noises I've heard. I can keep it at a steady throttle also and if a strong head wind hits the noise will change.

Don't have that issue. Its been in the mid 60's here so cold has nothing to do with it. Thank you all for the help. All the advice was greatly appreciate it.
