Whining during acceleration
I have a 2007 F150 Lariat 4x4 5.4L, recently when I accelerate I get a whining noise, and the faster I accelerate the louder it gets. I've had several friends ride along and they tell me it's not normal to be this loud. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same thing on my 2008 FX4 5.4. I've searched a few times and it looks like people have had issues with an alternator bearing? To me it sounds like its coming a little more from the middle/right side of the engine. Anyone else know for sure?

It's definetly from the outside, because the other night a valet brought my truck up and it was much louder. Is this something any good mechanic would recognize? I wouldn't want to take it in and say its the alternator and that not be it.
Thanks for all the responses.

I don't know if it has any connection, but my dad's Chevy 2500 has that same whine. It was like that from new. It seems like the whine was coming from the transmission. It didn't affect anything though.
