Follow upper radiator hose to engine. This the water outlet of the engine and is where the temperature is measured. Look around and you will find it.

Rear of the drivers side cylinder head. Close to the fire wall.

These trucks do not use engine coolant sensors. They use cylinder head temp sensors. The signal from this sensor is used by the ECM and also operates your gauge on the dash. I doubt it will work for what you want it to do. Give me a few minutes and I'll pull up the part numbers for you to add a coolant temp sensor.

My temperature gauge will go to hot and say reduced engine power. I did a couple of research and found out that the temperature sending units could mess up and send bad signals to the gauge. That's why I need to locates them, to find out if they are not connected good or maybe need to be replaced. This is my last option to not send to the stealership.
