Running to the speed limiter and your buddies cutting out sooner doesn't constitute a win. Burning your tires longer doesn't always mean power. It just means you have the wrong tires or suspension for what you are trying to do. A simple bark of the tire and a dead hook will take the win everytime.
What tires are you running? A change in that area may help you get more wins.
