Default Where to mount switches?

I was looking to install my train horns but the only thing that has been delaying me has been where to mount my compressor switch and button for the horn. Ive noticed there seems to be a nice clear area around the cigarette lighter but im not sure on how i go about taking that apart to drill holes. If there are any better spots to mount it would be very appreciated!

I might be able to help if you give a little more info. What style dash do you have? Flow thru center console? Also, do you have 4wd?

I've got 2 rocker switches mounted on either side of my cig lighter. Looks pretty good to me and it looks about as OEM as possible. The picture I added isn't my truck but it's what mine look like. Couldn't find a pic of my own on my phone. Pretty simple to do, pop off that panel in the center and the cig lighter plastic plate pops out with some clips. I just measured where I wanted the switches a few times and threw it on the drill press.

Okay, do you have reverse sensors? The black panel that the reverse sensor button and cigarette lighter holes are at might be perfect for that if your switch is smaller than the height of the piece.

Mine has the reverse sensor disable button, so you would mount it in the middle on this style. Is this what you are kinda talking about?

Yes. To get the wood trim panel off, first open the ash tray. Get your fingers up around the bottom of the wood piece and pull out. Once you get the bottom, work the rest of the tabs out to the top. Then disconnect the climate control boxes and cigarette and reverse switch, and push the tabs on the back of the black panel in, and pull it out of the surrounding wood trim.

I used the space by the cigaret lighter for the switches for my heated seats.

Used this spot for switches for my fog lights on the bumper and the roof
