I placed my switch next to the lighter and added a usb duel port on the other side... Works great and it just pops out with a small flat tip screw driver or a plastic putty knife.

I put four toggles in mine. Two on either side of the cigar lighter. There were some plastic pieces on the back of that panel I had to cut off to get a flat surface though.

I think you should look in the trade and sales, 09-14, custom overhead switch panels. They look awesome nice and clean I think they would work well with 04-08 even though it's specifically made for the 09-14.

I made mine easy and cheap and the panel is acouple bucks on ford or eBay or Amazon.

This is what I did.



You said yours didn't have an ash tray so not really any help there but my second choice would have been next to the cigarette lighter or on the plastic trim behind the high beam stalk so I could turn on and off quickly

Not an option for those without an ashtray, but I wanted my switches hidden.

Not sure which truck you have but this is what I did in my '04. I'm 6'3" so I have a decent reach but I like my switches a little out of the way and I guess it all depends what you're putting on them. I don't really utilize my bench seat either.
