Default Wheel stuck on, is it bad to use sledge on tire?

I have used the sledge hammer a few times to remove a stuck wheel but i always have hit the tire directly. Is it bad for the tire to get hit like that? Could i damage a belt? I have thought of maybe using a piece of 2x4 and hit that instead of the rubber

Why are your wheels sticking for you to need "need to use a hammer a few times"?

You'll be fine hitting it with a sledge or lightly hitting the wheel. You can also try kicking the tire. The wheel rusts to the hub and gets stuck sometimes

Make sure to put some anti seize on the hub before reinstalled the rim every time. 3 times I've had to take a rim off my 2013 and every time it's impossible to get the wheel off the truck. I usually take all the bolts expect two off and leave them on loose and lower the truck and drive back and forth a few inches til it rocks loose.

Ok, i do put anti seize eventually when i do get the wheel off, they stick to the hub because of salt in the winter time. I never thought of leaving 2 lug nuts loose and driving back and forth. By doing this, when the wheel does becomes loose it won't damage the stud?

I usually jack it up, make sure you have a good jack stand under truck frame and use a large bar against floor and then bottom of tire and pry upward or hit the tire with a mallet from inside
