Wheel Questions
Hey guys, i have searched endlessly for answers, but cant find anything that really took care of my questions. So, here we go.
I just bought a 2007 FX4 with 20 in wheels, I ordered a levelling kit that should be here this week. What I want to do is switch to 17 in wheels, because my buddy is selling me a set of 285/70r17, and so when i buy new tires down the road I dont need to take a jar of vaseline with me.
My questions: will 17s even fit on my truck? there seems to be some controversy.
What offset and backspacing should i get my wheels in?
I want to possibly move up to a 35x12.5 in the future, what offset would work for both sizes of tire?
And also, is there anyone out there in the same boat im in? Maybe has some suggestions on wheels?
thanks a million guys, i appreciate it.

I recently installed a 6" suspension but prior I had a 2.5" level/lift and fit 35/12/50/17 with maybe a little trim. The only thing I didn't like about the leveling kit was the position of my UCAs. And for the wheels I'm not sure about the offset and back spacing but 17s will fit all day long with the correct lug pattern.

Depending on the model some 07's came with 17's, so you will be fine with the right pattern. Not sure about back spacing though. I have a 2.5 inch leveling kit and I am running an 18x9 with 4.5 inch back spacing, they stick out a little. They are wrapped in a 305 65 18 which is similar to a 33 12.5 and I had to trim a small amount. The company I got the leveling kit from said with stock back spacing and wheel width I could.run 35 12.5 no prob.
