Wheel grinding when making turn from dead stop
06 f150 4x4 . Take off straight from dead stop , no issues. Turn left or right even from the slowest speed on dry pavement I get a grinding noise and it seems to be coming from the rear wheels. Looking for answers . Thanks in advance.

Ever serviced the differential?

Couple of things, could be time for a differential service, clutch-packs, drums/brakes may be grinding, could be a bearing. All of this is assuming it's coming from the rear. Let us know

Does it make this sound after setting overnight when the oil in the rear differential has had a chance to cool and thicken? Id bet money on the clutch packs in the rear differential. Go to your local Ford garage and get a $5 bottle of friction modifier. Put it in the rear end and give it 3-6 months to see if it goes away or gets better. If it does get better then might need to service the rear end and make sure it has the correct oil in it. Or you can just service it to begin with. I just say to start with the friction modifier as its a cheap easy start. Made my wifes Explorer much better almost cant hear it unless its really hot out and the oil gets thin.

If the Diff is serviced correctly you will not be able to get a 4oz. bottle of friction modifier into it unless you jack up the side of the truck with the Diif filler plug.

Since I'm retired and the check comes at the first of the month, my differential service will be tomorrow first thing ! Most days it doesn't happen until I go down the road some , ten miles or so . Yesterday , Grandkids put 4x4 in high , what a racket it made . Took it out of 4x4 , still grinding but no where near as bad . Stay tuned ! And thank you all !

I think as long as it's a reputable shop and they know to use friction modifier.
