It'd be neat to make another forum with that question for each engine and a poll up on top. But lettuce not forget... most people that don't search also don't read stickies.

To the O.P. ( probably long gone) at 169,000 mi. if its ticking its probably due to oil pressure issues. Either the suction screen is full of plastic from degraded guides or the tensioner gaskets have failed. Oil viscosity will make little to no difference.
To those of you who felt the need to impugn/ridicule the O.P. - Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Try taking that same amount of effort and doing something of value with it.

Root cause will prevail. We need a recording of the ticking sound to address the sound and not the oil. A tick to one person could be a lifter knock to someone else. I hope he's still around so we can work on this.

As far as stickies, modify the website so that each time you log in, you have to acknowledge a pop-up asking you to check the stickies and search before asking a question. Kinda like the DOD consent banner you get when you log into a network computer. Of course, this recommendation is a joke. Possibly. Maybe.
