Default what wt oil

I have a 05 5.4 it has the infamous tick, I was reading some posts that said they were running 5 30 instead of 5 20 should I be also? I run royal purple 5 20 and the tick never goes away engine has 169000 miles and no issues except for the tick. Thanks

I usually stay out of these, but its getting old.....this has been asked over and over. I have nothing but a numb sensation when it comes to oil weight threads.

Please use the search function, or even better, use Google. Example:

https://www.google.com/search?q=site...utf-8&oe=utf-8

There are just under 4,000 results for the search "5.4 what oil"
