Question What is this, and what do I need to fix it?

I was changing my oil this weekend when I noticed a hose hanging down by the rear driver side axel. I've attached a picture. Any information on what it is and what I need to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

**Note: for some reason the picture is sideways. The right side is the axel or bottom of the picture.

its the vent tube for the differential. nothing wrong here. maybe just replace it with a new hose a few inches long..

purpose of this vent is because pressure in the diff will blow the seals out.
