What size of 33" tire should I get for these?

Default What size of 33" tire should I get for these?

I just bought some good used Pro Comp alloys today. 18x9. Not sure what the offset is but the guy before had them on a 2004 F150 with 37" tires on them. I only want 33" tires so that I don't have to regear or hopefully little to no trimming. So my dumb question is, what size of tire should I order?
295/70/18 or 305/65/18 or 325/60/18 or some tires are actually sold as 33 x 12.50/18. This is the part that confuses me. I'm looking for the biggest tire without major modifications in wheel wells and hopefully without breaking the bank. I want the All Terrain look, but I do mostly city/highway driving.

I do have a 2" level on the truck.

Use the tire conversion. Figure out which one is the narrowests. You should have no problem fitting them height wise. But the width is gonna be what gets you on the turn. Rubbing the inner fender and whatever else could be in the way. Best bet is to find a buddy with the same offset and backspace you have. And use his wheels to test fit. If not. Buy a set and hope for the best. Good luck. Post pics when you get them wheels on

Goodyear makes 295/65/18 in the duratrac that would be a great size. 295/70/18 are 34 and some change. I think they would rub and you would take a power hit. If he was running 37s with a lift kit the bs is more than likely 4.5. 305/65/18 would probably also work with minimal trimming. With the wider more aggressive stance 285/65/18 would even look good.

I don't know anyone around my area with the same situation I have, that's why I'm looking for opinions on here. I was really hoping to go with a 305 or 315 or even the 325 width but afraid of rubbing. It's a lot of money for tires to gamble if it works or not.

Without having the tires mounted on the wheels, and on the truck, it would be extremely difficult to calculate. Hub offset, wheel hub depth, steering angle lock-to-lock. How good are you in 3D geometric calculations? Do you have an engineering buddy with AutoCAD?

For simple measurements, you can use the overall tire/wheel values to produce width and height.

295/70/18 equates to 295mm wide, 70% of the width is the sidewall height, and the wheel is 18". Why they mix metric and SAE I'll never know. Therefore...

295mm = 11.6" wide, 70% of that is 8.1" sidewall height, 18" wheel size. The overall height of that tire/wheel combination would be 8.1" + 8.1" + 18" = 34.2"

You should be able to figure the other sizes out on your own.

I think the 305 will be your best option. The 325 is almost 13" wide.

305/65/18 = 33.6x12/18

u might have problems due to different offsets with the wheels but i have stock 18" rims with 33x12.5 nitto mud grapplers and they only rub at full locked wheel to the right. im not concerned with the rubbing because im barely ever full locked to the right.

I run 275/70/18 which is 33.2 inches tall but about 10 inches wide. I like the look and handling characteristics.

Thanks everyone. I might go to a 4 wheel drive shop and see if they will fit tires on the truck before buying. I really like this site because of all the people posting their trucks and their experiences in the same related issues. Feel free to post your trucks and wide tires on here please.

His old ones are goodyear duratracs. They are about the only ones in that size.

^^^ yes sorry I forgot to say that they are Goodyear duratracs, I bought them used with about 60-65% tread left... maybe cause they were used but they never balanced right after 4 attempts and handled terrible in the rain, so after months of reading reviews I bought the cooper s/t maxx from discount tire direct.. I'll definalty post up pics when there mounted this week I just picked them up this weekend .

I measured the backspacing and found that these rims have a 5" backspace. From the charts on the net, this is a 0mm offset??? I think I'm going to try a 295/70/18 tire and pray for the best.

Just be ready to trim a little. As long as you are willing to accept that, you should be fine.

You'll be fine with the 295/70's..if you have to trim anything, it'll be plastic and if you take your time cutting it with a nice sharp razor blade you can make it look like you never cut it, just follow the factory contours.

Just got these baby's powder coated!!!! I'm excited. I've got new lugnuts and tires on their way. The corrosion on the backside was a little heavy, so it cost a total of $250 for all 4 rims, but I'm happy.

How wide is the wheel you mounted them on? I want to get the s/t maxx as well in 275/70/18 but the spec sheet lists max wheel width at 8.5" and the wheel I want is 9"
