Logan, the problem is that our 2004 trucks have 4 catalytic converters. This makes everything super quiet no matter what. I have a 9" Borla muffler on mine, very small straight-through muffler and it still not that loud unless at WOT. I used to have the Flow super44 and even that wasn't very loud (super annoying cruising highway though, drone). I think your best option is a dynomax bullet or SLP loudmouth dumped. Keep in mind you must have all 4 cats and a muffler of some sort in order to pass smog here in CA. I have the FIPK2 as well and it is CARB certified and CA legal, just make sure you have the CARB sticker on it that came with it.

Try long-tube headers, and High Flow Cats... Cat-back exhaust can only go so far without dumping thousands into it. These two things will give you more sound than you will ever want.

Neither are CARB certified in CA and will fail smog. Believe me, if they were legal I would have both on my truck already. First company to get some long-tubes or high-flows certified, I will invest. The only legal headers in CA are the JBL shorties which are a waste IMO.

Thanks for your input man i appreciate it...yea i still want it to be able to pass smog and not go through the hassle of enjoying it now then when i have to smog again go through and change out to factory or whatever...i have the sticker on the cai it came with...i think im gonna go with the dynomax and just do a turn down right after the muffler and get rid of the dual pipes out the back....what dynomax muffler should i get though? There are a bunch of different ones on ebay and quite a few look the same but have different numbers

I'm a fan of Dynomax's Ultra-Flo mufflers. Simiar to the bullets, but look like an actual muffler.

3" SS version 3" SS version

I had this one (in aluminized steel) on my turbo Ranger. I had it without a cat though. Even with turbo 4 cylinder it grumbled nicely when just rolling into the throttle. At WOT it just screamed. With 4 cats on our F150's I'm not sure how it would sound though. (I plan on running this one in the future)
