Default What is the Quietest and most efficient intake??

He guys I am wanting to add an intake to my rig and am wanting to add something that will breath better but I use the truck to tow a trailer and I wan to keep it as queit as possible. What do you all suggest. I have seen folks liking the Roush and S&B seems hit and miss. Input would be great. Thanks

I was hoping to add a little power though. With intake, exhaust, and programmer.

You'll get the best power gains with the programmer, but not with the CAI. The stock setup is great. Just about every late model fuel injected vehicle today has a factory "CAI", as they draw cool air into the intake from the front of the vehicle. Your truck has its air cleaner box entering the side drivers fender to get cooler air from the front.

Works fine, lasts a long time.

Most aftermarket CAI's have an open cone type filter, and it has a silly shield that seals it against the hood, but one side is open to grab air from the front. Goofy, as it will still draw warm engine heat. The stock setup is much better than these.

If money is burning a hole in your pocket and you want some underhood eye candy, then at least buy a CAI that has a sealed type box that houses the air cleaner, and draws air only from its snorkle that connects to the same fender hole as the stock unit, or comperable.

That intake will give you exactly what you are asking for. A "little" power, which you will get from your wallet being lighter.
Before you ask, no, you should not get a throttle body spacer.

i had a banks cai and took it off loud and never really noticed any difference in power gain/fuel mileage, i reinstalled my factory intake and seems to run better then having a cai.
i thought if i did the cai, programmer and exhaust it would make a differance i have better results with factory intake programmer and exhaust and it is not loud and obxious from under the hood.
short version don't buy an cold air intake and save the cash for something else they are not worth it

I did this about a year ago and still have it. I haven't noticed much of a difference though. No change in sound because it's mostly the stock intake except for the end that goes into the fender.

Exactly, 04-08 Trucks are basically a CAI already with a 2" Neck down in the Fender well, if you open it up, you have the same air flow as a Aftermarket kit.

I believe PHP did some tests with Aftermarkets and Gotts modded engines and both made the same power with and with out Programming. It should be in the original gotts thread.

So my money might be better spent on a programmer. We r now using the f150 to tow so on our freeway drives it stays in 3rd gear at about 2300 rpm so I don't want a lean setup either.
