Default What is this in the picture?? - (on a 2006 Screw)

This is on my 2006 F150 Screw... I have wondered what it is since i bought it, i have put it in the back of my mind for the past couple of months and was just cleaning my truck and now i really want to know what it is! haha i cant figure it out, I took the little chip out of it and it has 1524 written on it, i looked it up with no results, it doesn't look like any chip system that i have ever used, and the chip just crosses the wires that are plugged into it.. i really dont get it and i cant really find where it goes.

I dont know!

If i take the little chip out and start the truck is it going to explode??

Looks like something of an aftermarket security system. Trace the wires and see if it is actually still connected to anything.

I'll have to wait for my carpets to dry, they are still wet haha but i tried following them with my hand and the red (1)/white (1)/black (1) runs around the main wiring harness (like wrapped around) couldn't feel the end... and the two black ones run not even 8 in to some unit right behind the lower steering wheel shroud.

Can you take off the shroud and get a pic of the "unit" that those wires connect to?

I would try starting it without that little chip. If it does not start, I really think it might be some sort of ignition interruptor for a security system. Kinda like a secondary ignition switch.

Looks like a 'kill switch' for your ignition. I'm guessing your truck wont start or even crank without that chip installed. Your truck won't blow up if you try to start without the chip, it just won't start.

Trace wires and remove.
