Default What lift kit and tires do I buy?

I have a Black 2006 F-150 Chrome Edition. I am trying to get some information on getting a lift and some tires. I have the 1023 procomp alloy rims that i got powder coated black. (IMPOSIBLE to keep polished rims from Oxidizing) The rim size is 18X9.5. Im thinking about doing a 6 inch lift, and i was wondering if anyone had any insight on what lift I should get and what tire i should wrap those rims with. I am trying to keep the price down, i am on the college budget. Also i do not plan to do much off-roadin the lift is for looks.

if it's mainly for looks, why not get a leveling kit and throw on some 35's. a 6" lift will be around 1500.00 and maybe that much again in labour. BFG, Nitto and Khumo are popular tires.

A leveling kit would only bring the front end up 2 inches I would consider a body lift, but it will come out to almost the same as a suspension lift. Also does the ride change with a body lift, and what about towing?

no ride change due to the fact you haven't altered the springs. towing shouldn't be affected either because your hitch hasen't moved. i did a body lift on my 90 f250 and it was a pain in the *****. if you're towing with your bumper, it should be lifted up to match the body lift height and that might affect your towing.

do you know how much a body lift costs. My local shop does not do the body lifts and the procomp 6 inch lift is 2200.

I have heard that after the shop charges for the install of the body lift, (which is a PITA), for a few hundred more dollars you could have had a suspension lift. If I were you I would fork out the extra for a suspension lift. Maybe rancho 4 inch or one of the several 6 inch kits.

If your truck is a 4WD you could throw a leveling kit on there and some 35's and that would allow you to save your money right now. If you actually are going to go with a lift then my suggestion would be to skip the body lift and go straight for a suspension lift. Since you're talking mostly for looks I'd go with a Fabtech performance lift with performance shocks which you can get for $1673 from 4wheelonline.com

http://www.4wheelonline.com/Products...roductID=71904

If you pay $1500 for install then you're certainly getting ripped off. That's the exact lift I have on my truck and I paid $750 when I got my truck done, but they did alot of other things to my truck at the same time so that was the cost of install and labor for everything they did.

4wheelonline is also holding a buy 3 get 1 free on Pro Comp tires at this time. I have the Pro Comp Xtreme AT's on my truck and they are a great tire. Very aggressive looking yet very quiet on the road. These weren't my first choice, I wanted the Nitto Terra Grapplers at first. The owner of the shop who did my lift had the Pro Comps on his truck and when I saw them I instantly changed my mind.

Keep us informed with what you decide.

He won't be able to fit 35s with that width of a rim, 9.5.
