Default What Kind of Programmer

I just purchased an 05 5.4 L FX4 F150. It came with Magnaflow dual exhaust and and K&N cold air intake. The guy I bought it from said he was getting between 14 and 15 MPG's and didn't really see a big difference from the exhaust and air filter. I was wondering what you guys would suggest, a programmer, a chip, or a custom tune to improve MPG's (an improvement in HP wouldn't hurt either.) I know i am not going to get 20 MPG's or anything but I plan on owning the truck for a long time, so whatever I save in gas will really add up. Thanks Alot!

He did not have a programmer in the truck, but it only has 40000 miles on it, and i dont think he has had it in there for even close to the full amount anyways, how long would it take to burn the valves up?

There is a lot of very useful information here: https://www.f150forum.com/search.php

But, I'll save you some time and help you out...look here: https://www.f150forum.com/f7/tuner-programmers-9161/

and here: https://www.f150forum.com/f7/cold-air-intake-9159/

And since you're relatively new, try here: https://www.f150forum.com/f7/custom-...ed-tune-17686/

Once you've reviewed the wealth of opinions and user data, narrowed down your choices, please post your unanswered questions. We'd be happy to help.

Hey man, if your looking for something check out programmers. I have an 06 XLT with flowmaster exhaust and roush cold air and I use a edge evolution programmer. It's super easy to install and comes with a dash mount so it looks like it came from the factory. It cost me about 350 on eBay. If u want more info just send me a message and I'll fill you in. Cheers, Logan.

I like my Edge Evolution. Does a lot of different stuff, customer tuning and plug and play design. I have only had mine a week and already notice a huge difference in performance of the truck.
