what kind of oil?

Never called you one - chill out. My BS reference is that BMW service intervals are certainly in the best interest of protecting themselves. This oil changing interval is the current practice. So if all these engines are failing and they are losing money due to lengthy oil change intervals - well it's an easy fix and would have been shortened.

Resident A-hole
VW has the same problem and shortened theirs to 5k intervals. Mercedes went from 12-15 down to 10k. It is VERY hard to get the Germans to admit there is a problem. They will spend millions in engine replacements under warranty. Their figuring is most engines will fail after warranty. The extended service interval is a selling play and has nothing to do with the life of the engine. Its a selling point that you don't have to take the car to the shop ever 3 or 5 k.

OK fair enough. It will be theirs after 45K miles.
Btw - my oil parameters for my 2007 F-150 are Mobil 1 / motorcraft filter @ 7500.
This is the same I did with my 2000 Expy and without issues with 180K miles when I traded in.
