The 2000 5.4 had the same issue my Mustang did. Just make certain you torque them correctly.

From Jasper's site regarding 1991-2003 4.6 and 5.4 engines.

It’s also been reported plugs that loosen while installed may “blow out” taking the
threads with them. This is one critical instance when the exact torque value of 11 ft/lbs
(14 Nm) is extremely important.

yeah i have the 4.6 and had no problem at all even with them hot as hell

Changed my plugs today. 82000 Miles on them and YEP, broke (2) one on each side. Tried the Ford tool that uses Loctite bond, what a POS. If you have one THROW it in the garbage. Get the Lisle (2) step and WALA all is out and ready to go in short order. Replaced with the Autolite equivalent and proper anti seize and all is well.
