Well hood on 04 are aluminum. I'm having some electrolysis issue with hood and grill that's causing paint to bubble where they meet and when I scrape off paint to touch up I only find white powdery surface corrosion

I had a 55 Chevy pickup with a fiberglass bed; a Cameo. Wish I still had it!

According to the FAA the chances of a magnesium alloy actually igniting is pretty low. Low enought to be considered safe to use on commercial jetliners anyway. My source:

The radiator support on the 04-08 F-150's is listed as being made of magnesium. Magnesium is flammable yes but most mag alloys burn at a pretty high temp, higher than most fires could produce under most circumstances. The Military HMMWV (hummer) is made up of aluminum and magnesium alloys for its body and frame and Ive seen some pretty serious explosions and fire that never ignited the body or chassis of one.

THATS a good point..........
