Default Weird noise

Whenever I do a cold start early in the morning in 20 - 40 degree weather i'll hear a loud whistling sound and it gets quieter as the rpm goes down, it only last a couple of minutes but its really weird and annoyin, truck is 08 fx2 with 34,000 miles. anybody no what it is?

Mine does the same thing, though I dont know what it is, I was thinking it may be the power steering pump, but thats just what I think , I'm sure someone else on here will know what it is.

I live in Arizona so we don't really have "cold" weather. But I've seen on here a few threads where people say it's the alternator.

I dont think its the alternator, my last truck i had i had to replace alternator and i can never forget the whine sound it made. i doubt its the power steering

It really only last for 15 seconds on and off, its not a continuous sound.. i seriously do not want to go to stealership after last experience

most likely a belt is a little too lose and in the cold it squeals and then as soon as it warms up it goes away. but its hard to tell without hearing. get someone to start the car for you on a cold start and with the hood open listen where the noise is coming from.

My 05 FX4 has the same problem in the cold weather. Had it last winter as well and it does not go away when the truck has warmed up. Someone out there must have had this problem and solved it???

Help !!! it is driving me crazy.

Start it up with the hood open and try an figure out the general area the noise is coming from. It could be a number of things, Belts, tensioners.......

im pretty sure its not belts.... when i had my cai on it didnt whine. i had it on all last winter and didnt hear a thing. but i put my stock intake back on for the winter and as soon as i did that it started whinin again
