04 F150 Lariat Crew Cab

Had battery problems a several months ago. Kept going dead for no apparent reason. Found mention of a bad wiring connection in the harness under the running board behind the driver seat. Whenever the battery got low the relay behind the seat would click.

I found the bad purple wire and fixed the connection. I replaced the battery and thought my electrical issues were behind me. Now the weather is cold and the battery is crapping out again. The relay (it must be a relay, either fuel or keyless entry) behind the back seat, click non stop.

When the battery is charged up, the truck starts and everything works fine. For some reason it keeps going dead. I don't know if the clicking relay is a symptom or a cause.

Would love to hear back.

Hey, My 2007 F150 just did somewhat the same thing
I was able to unlock my doors from the remote fob and when I open the door the light would dim lighty but the truck would not turn over
So I tried to boost the truck and it still wouldn't turn over
After I took the booster cables off behind the driver side back seat I could hear a ticking and my automatic doors and lights were not working
the ticking is only when I have the truck in the off position and if I turn the key at all I can no longer hear the ticking
Wondering if anyone found out what that ticking is from
Also my battery is less then one year old and I haven't driven the truck in over a week
thanks.

If the battery still has a warranty, get it replaced. Weird things can happen and make noises with faulty batteries (like what you heard in the back of the cab). Get your alternator tested. It may not be operating correctly, and can kill even a new battery.

My 07 f150 has the same issue. Just replaced my battery last month, died this morning and clicking. I think the clicking is loudest outside where the bed meets the cabin, or on top of the fuel tank. The clicking stops when I press on the break pedal.

I know this might be old but for my 2004 F150 I found my battery terminal was broken. I hope this helps someone.

I'm having the same problem if anyone has ever found a solution. I have a 2006 f150 Lariat crew cab. Clicking inside the cab behind the rear seat drivers side. Battery dead and it only clicks while the key is not in the on position. Keeps kling the battery when the truck sits more than a few days. Appreciate any advice.

Default Same Problem

I have a 2005 Super crew. Same issue as described above. if i leave my truck for more than a day, the battery will be low enough that i have to jump it off. It charges well (13.96V) and the battery will hold a steady 12.6V if disconnected from the truck. There is an intermittent parasitic draw (about 4A) coming from somewhere. It went away when i pulled the a/c clutch relay and did not come back when i plugged it back in (I noticed no sound of the A/C clutch releasing when i unplugged the relay). I do not know yet if this was the culprit or just happened to go away at the same time. I will add to the thread if i can repeat this.

I had same issue, 2-4 days w/o driving and battery would be dead. Clicking between cab and bed and took forever to accept a charge seemed whatever was clicking was zapping the juice. Pulled door lock fuze and it would charge. Door lock fuze disabled headlights, auto locks, radio off on door open, pretty much anything with doors, windows worked though. Behind back seat is a thing called body security module, it's the device with your door keypad default code printed on it. Replaced and thank God. Been battling this crap for 2 years.

Default Same issue

Hello has anyone solved this issue definitively? My '07 F150 Triton was running fine and then the battery started to seem weak. Slightly longer starts, I could tell the cranking amps seemed weak/loe. Then one day last week it was dead after not driving it a few days. Had the battery tested and it tested good. Today, my wife walked up to it and it was sitting there clicking loudly, no key in the ignition, nobody inside, no lights on, etc.
might be unrelated, but the previous owner installed an LED light bar that worked fine and then... didn't. It won't turn in at all. I traced the wires, didn't see anything wrong. So I replaced a relay under the hood, high up on the passenger side, right next to the 4 x 4 vacuum reservoir and all that, mounted to the firewall/cab. No change.
Any ideas? I'm handy but I'm no mechanic or electrician. Thanks and good luck to you guys.
