I chose to replace it, easy job with only a couple connections. IIRC there was also a kit to replace the part near the battery but I prefer the full part where electronics are concerned.

looked at the pos cable this morning and cut away as far as possible and everything looks good. I'm still suspicious of injectors for some reason. Every now and then I have an extended crank. There was another post on a weird start and it turned out to the injectors. who knows? I've pulled the fuel rail several times
