i just did this mod this morning, drilled a hole in each cowl in the front and ran a zip tie through them both, got tired of pushing the cowl back down every week!!!

FYI - If you're looking for a quick fix and if you don't care about doing this kind of think, you can run a screw through the front of the driver's side cowling and secure it to the passenger side piece to help hold it down. Just make sure it's low enough.
