what are you planning on replacing it with? a column shifter? if you want i would take the console shifter off your hands
edit* to take it off i believe you pop off the gray portion around the shifter and then you can get to the bolts that way

What I think you are asking(I could be wrong) is you want to replace the ****/button on your shifter. If that is the case, I think there is a recessed spot near the button that you would need to get into. I did it once to see how hard it would be and gave up on the idea after stabbing myself with a screwdriver. Lots of blood...

Shift ****? Pop the collar down at the bottom of the ****. Squeeze the release lever and pull it off. Be carefull not to loose the spring in side. The new shift **** will have the release lever pinned. install the spring and pop it back on holding the release and pull the pin. After you have it on lift the collar back up to lock the **** on the shifter.
