Question Want to buy....

Loaded 2004 Lariat Screw with 88,XXX miles listed for $14,900. Truck looks garage kept (no fading, dents, dings, or tears) and just needs a thorough inspection by Ford dealership.

After reviewing Edmunds, black book, and KBB, I decided to offer $13,500 with the following conditions: 1) plugs/boots have been changed, 2) no leaks or loud/strange noises, and 3) good service records.

Assuming everything checks out, are their any other considerations?

Was this a good initial offer considering the number of well maintained lower mileage 2004-08 F150s is declining?

If you get it for that price, its a steal in my opinion. Just bought a 2005 XLT with 88K on it for $14,500. Lariats run quite a bit more. If I were selling it, I wouldn't drop to your price, and I wouldn't pay for plugs to be replaces. I also don't keep service records and have never had a problem selling my cars for top dollar because they are well taken care of and it shows. But nothing wrong with asking.

What about Edmunds showing dealer retail at $13,273 (oustanding) while the "black book" shows a clean retail of $14,475? Heck, even NADA shows $14,775. I would think paying more than dealer retail is a no-no for an 8 year old truck.

Maybe if this truck was a 4x4 I could see your point.

EDIT: This truck is listed by a private seller.

I just saw a black 2007 XLT in B'ham, AL listed for $16,800 with only 68,400 miles. I could easily see getting this truck for $15K.

What pricing guide should be used if used truck prices remain so high?
