wanna install an factory mp3 player
I have an 04 xlt and wanna just see if its possible to just swap out the stock stereo for the mp3 player that comes in the 05 and up models? Just wanna try to keep that factory look you know. Also would be interested if any one is looking in to selling theres as well.... thank you

Well, first off- there no MP3 players in these trucks. The '05+ 6 disc has the MP3 CD read capability but no auxiliary input for an MP3 player even though the deck gives you the auxiliary function. The '07-'08 has the jack on top of the dash in the coin/sunglass (?) tray. I am not sure if this can be added to our trucks.
If you have the 6 disc with the "AUX" button on the bottom right corner of the upper button cluster, there is this option.

Also if you go to Best Buy, they have an adapter that costs $149.99 that allows you to add an aux jack to the factory harness.
Both of these mount under the dash behind the radio and all you would see is the hole where you would mount the jack. I know I would just drill a hole in the woodgrain just under the radio OR in the top tray.
Bare in mind that these only apply if you DO have the "AUX" button. If not, your best bet is to paruse EBAY and look for a 6 disc and do this mod.
Someone may chime in as to whether or not you can add the jack on top of the dash, but I don't think so.
