Default Visor question: in-channel vs the other

I'm looking at the visors on ebay, basically there are 2 kinds, one says in-channel and the description states it goes on the window and the other style is not on the window but above it, on the body of the truck.

I've paid attention to this before on other trucks. I thought they were all the same. Which one is better? on window or not?

another question, there are also 2 sizes, slim and regular (little wider). Which one of these better?

Slim vs Wide
In-Channel vs the other

Thank you

get the in channel thats what i put on my fx2. it doesnt use any tape, it fits in the window channel firmly and doesnt come out. if you use the other kind its just tape that u stick to the body and its kinda crappy becuz eventually it will melt the glue and fall off. EGR makes good ones, theyre the ones i have!

Get the in-channel, my tape is failing and it is a b^&*% to find any that works as good as what it came with.

Well, I've owned both. In channel on my '99 Explorer and Outside the channel on my '99 Ranger, '02 F150 & '06 F150. Here are my thoughts.

I prefer the Outside Channel version, as you can tell. I never had tape issues with my '99 Ranger or '02 F150. Now I am having issues with one small portion on my '06 F150, but I called Lund and they sent me two huge rolls of the double sided 3M adhesive tape they use. Haven't used it yet, but I have enough to last me in case each window falls off 2-3 times each.

Now I wasn't fond of the in-channel on my '99 Explorer. Since it sticks up in the window slot, with the window completely shut, it pushes on the weather stripping. After about 2-3 years, you could hear a lot more wind noise with the window closed, you could feel a small draft and the in channel weather stripping started to bulge out.

This is just my experience and preference. I actually like the look of the in-channel style better, but after the wind noise, draft and bulging of the channel, I decided to go with the little less stylish option. But both look good either way.

I've never had a pair of the ones that go on the outside of the channel. Reason being is because I have seen too many vehicles driving down the road with at least one of those things flapping in the wind. I have had in-channel visors on my last 2 trucks and wouldn't go with any other ones.

I have been using the stick on ones with no problems.... you just have to make sure to clean the area really good with alcohol beforehand.... I know others who have the in the channel ones... with the tight windows it causes air noise to increase inside the cab as the windows are not as tight as without them... just what I have heard....
