VCT Solenoids are ordered...
Tasca confirmed the order yesterday. Should be shipping out soon. Im cheap so I took the ground shipping.
I talked to my local stealership, 3 parts guys and 3 other people coming from the back and none of them had any idea what at VTC Solenoid was. I had the part number and everything. I was like what the ? My local 3 local auto parts stores had 1 on hand between them and they were proud of it wanting $69.99/ea so I went home and got them from Tasca for $85 total.
Now I just gotta wait and get the correct Torx head driver and length to get them swapped. Hopefully my truck will sound less like a Powerstroke...to be continued.

That being said ... while replacing your VCT solenoids is the best place to start, it is unlikely that they are the source of low-RPM rattling or clanking. I think I've read that a time or two guys have had positive results with just the installation of the newest version of the solenoids. But the vast majority of people (like myself) find that it makes no difference at all.
I can't be 100% certain what my issue was, but I replaced both phasers and all the timing components (chains, guides, tensioners, etc.) While this engine is still too noisy for my taste, I think what I have now is "normal" valve train and injector noise. I sure hope it lasts.

Seafoam the valve body's while the solenoids are out with deep creep.
The latest solenoids will definitely help quiet the tick. In my experience, with the use of the latest solenoids, 5w-30 oil, and maybe a slight increase in idle speed with a tuner/programer, you should be tick free.. Everyone's tick sounds different, some worse then others. If solenoids don't make a meaningful impact on the noise, then you got other problems in the timing set or valve train..
