Used 2007 with 135K miles.....too high?
Hi all, I'm looking at buying a 2007 Expedition with 135K miles. V8 with AWD. It's one owner and judging from the carfax it has been well maintained. Transmission fluid flushed, oil changes regularly, etc.
I drove it and it rides well, really smooth.
I'm just a little nervous though with such high mileage.
Thoughts?

Well the expedition does have the same drive train as an F150 (I think) and the expedition forums have way less people on there so I can see why they would post on here.
As for the reliability of expeditions, my mother has an 04 expedition with over 200k miles on it and has given her no major trouble. A certain part of the AC system messed up a while ago, I think a plastic gear stripped out and she couldn't switch up where they AC was blowing out (feet, defroster, etc) but that was the only thing that has gone wrong. Also she has followed the Ford service schedule precisely so that will contribute to the reliability of it.

It depends on what you're going to pay for it and it's condition. On my truck with the exception of window regulator problems, paint, body, interior, HVAC, and electrical have been flawless (@141k). I did go through a transmission at 125K and my engine has had phaser knock for about 90k but runs fine. If you can hear knocking or tapping noises coming from the engine with the hood closed, keep looking. Tranny is about $1,700 installed. Engines run about $3500. Keep those numbers in mind especially the tranny because it will likely need replacing in the near future at that mileage. The engine I believe will make it to 200k if it's had regular oil changes. Oh I also had to replace lash adjusters at 117k (to get rid of tapping noise).

My 07 Expedition EL Eddie Bauer 4x4 just turned 115K. Bought it with 111K for $17K. They just had done plugs, coils and coolant flush. It has to be one of the smoothest riding vehicles I have ever had. But it does have the rear air-suspension that will get replaced with regular struts when it goes, which is a certainty.

our 2006 f150 has 225000 and still runs great...our 2003 expedition has 168000 and runs just as good!!! so I would say if the tranny shifts firm and fluid smells good...then dont hesitate to buy it if its the right price for the conditon.
