Upgrading tires and rims-image-1829815505.jpg Quick question, I'm looking to upgrade my stock 2006 XLT 16" to stock 18" rims/tires from a 2015 sport. Found what I think is a good deal on Craigslist. $900 for stock rims with Hankook tires new offs, supposedly not even test driven. Any thoughts? Attachment 412807

They will bolt right on if you have 6 lugs on your hubs.

Think it's a good deal? I've heard stock rims have no resale value, but I need new tires and figure tires will cost that much or more. Plus my truck will not look so wimpy with 16" rims

I wouldn't call it a good deal. I'd have to get them to knock it down a couple hundred for sure, but I'm only interested in buying 2nd hand on things like that unless I get a deal.

It's so weird -- wheels usually have about a $100/ea value on craigslist when sold without tires (or with bald tires).

Tires by themselves (even with 1000 miles or less on them) go for 75% of tireracks prices.

Tires with the wheels go for the same as just tires. $700 cash, or walk away. That's my take.

For comparision, I just bought 275/55/20 Hankooks off a 2015 FX4 (nubbies still on 'em) for $450. 2 years ago I bought 06 FX4 wheels AND tires (Scorpion ATR's) with 50-% tread left for $500.

Any idea if 20" rims/tires would fit? I don't have any lift, but put on new rancho quick lift and back rancho RS9000.

Yes, several model F-150's came with 20's. As long as you get the right size, bolt pattern and offset, you are good.

Any thoughts? Supposedly factory rims need special lug nuts? True?

Your current lugs will fit but they won't look as good. Go to discount tire or Americas tire for lugs. It's a lot cheaper than that

Never knew they cost so much. Found cheaper lug nuts, but read I would need special ones for factory rims. Right now I have the original open style lug nuts that were always hidden with a cover.
