im pretty new to this stuff but a friend of mine recommends installing an intake and exhaust. So if anyone can help me in choosing what to do for better performance. I am also thinking about dropping it few inches. I would like to have the most bang for my buck. Please help

I like the K&n intake and both borla and flowmaster exhaust.. Eventhough borla is more money up front, in my opinion, they last longer and have a nice deep tone to them.. So i would go with the borla but its all up to what u want to spend.. and as for the intake i prefer k&n. Hope this helped you out!

do the 3 main thing; chip, intake and exhaust. on mine, i have a tru-flow XDI intake, edge evolution programmer and straight pipes. my best 1/4 mile time so far is a 15.9 and ive seen as high as 20 mpg's in my truck. thats with a 5.4L, 3.55 gears, and 33" all terrains.

do you know about how much a chip will cost? and how does that work? is that a 1 time thing or can i tune it everytime i add something new? cause in the future i would like a supercharger but thats just to much for a student right now

Then grab a beverage of choice, and start reading. You'll have more opinions then you'll have time to read. Most folks are tiring of posting the same recommendations over and over (and over).

Make sure you take your time. When I first got into modding (2002 Dodge Dakota), we kinda ran through everything super fast.

Needless to say it broke down on me over 15 times. Who knew when u added a 360 with a vortech scharger that your tranny wouldn't hold up? Oops...I forgot to tighten my lug studs all the way, my tire just went flying past me at 70mph.

Make sure you know what you're doing or it can be a very costly lesson.

Probably the safest for you to go since you haven't had any past experience or knowledge, is by getting the tried and true products. For your exhaust, if your looking at getting a simple cat-back system, you gotta ask yourself what sound and how much performance are you lookin for? Flowmaster and gibson will give you a really aggressive tone, but magnaflow, borla, banks, mbrp, et cetera will give you the most power due to their straight-through design. As far as intakes, you can't go wrong with a K&N or Airaid, and as for a programmer, they are expensive and many people will tell you to get the xcalibor that can be sent off and custom tuned by troyer, I personally don't think you should do that until you get a little more knowledgable about that particular stuff. Just stick with the "canned" tunes from a well known and trusted programmer like superchips, edge, hypertech, et cetera.
