Being that you are in Jacksonville, FL... Here is a lodge in southeastern AL that my father and his friends have visited in the past. They all came back with impressive whitetails. If you're in the mood for a great and relaxing hunt with almost guaranteed results, check em out! By the way, this is just reference and not an endorsement.

Had a buddy's son harvest a beautiful colored young buck a few weeks ago. I'll post a picture of him when I get it uploaded.

Two go in my freezer and the rest goes to Venison for the Hungry campaign. We'll take them to the processor and he handles everything from there.

On a second note, Im glad that you got your truck fixed. Just shows you how hospitable folks here are. Ive pulled vehicles into our bay that have broke down near our office and get them back on the road pretty quick. I get a lot of weird looks when I pull them into an ambulance bay. LOL. They have a seat in our office, drink coffee, and Im usually able to get them fixed up. I tell them not only do we fix broken bodies, we can fix broken cars too! LOL. Of course I tell them not to get in a habit breaking down in front of our office.

Next time you're up around the Hartselle area, swing by and say hello! You can't miss us.

Also adding that a .308 is my favorite rifle! I have a Remington with a synthetic stock and Leupold Scope.. Ive reached out almost 150 yards with it and downed a doe along a huge cutover. I love my treestand!

Sounds like we have the same gun and scope. Best scope I've used & like how I can turn it to high/low power.

Went back to food plot looking for that 8 pter I missed. Saw nothing I saw a big ole black coyote In the woods and was scoping him for a better look & he ran. Was 100 yds away. All coyotes need to be killed, as they kill every baby animal they encounter.

Going to try and get a buck this weekend.

I'm a real jokerster! We started a new hunting system, where u take a washer and put it on the peg where ur going to hunt at, so as not to be disturbed. My bro hunts with a Gunwerks long range rifle (http://www.gunwerks.com/) and likes to brag about shooting deer over 1/2 MILE. So, I installed his "own" long range washer on the shooting board! He doesn't know about it (yet) but all his hunting buddies do & its funny! Added a chain and drove a big ole nail into the wood so it'd be hard to remove.

That's too funny. I'm wondering what the exit hole looks like at half a mile. I'd be scared to to shoot one at that range, (it would be cool to try though), Id be scared that I'd just wound him/her.

Here is a picture of a young buck that a friend of mines son harvested on a youth hunt a few weeks back.

I love the color of this buck. Wish he was mine!
Your .308 looks almost identical to mine.

Albino deer are rare. I once shot an albino squirrel. Thought it was a white rat in the tree & since squirrels belong to the rodent family, I guess I was right anyway. I left deer camp yesterday. I missed the creature comforts at home. Dropped by and picked up two & half bags of ground up deer meat. I saw a few hit deer laying around Interstate 65.

I shot the 7 mm 1,000+ yd rifle last week & it has a kick to it. Go to the Gunwerks link and look at the scope, it is utterly awesome. You use a range finder to find distance of animal, then on top of scope, you turn dial to that distance and it shoots dead on. No aiming high. It weights under 11 lbs w/scope I believe.

Brother paid 6K for the gun package. Wow. Not me! Then later he went to a GunWerks shooting school to learn how to shoot long distance lol. He shot a big moose in Canada back in Oct. Took it to Africa last summer & shot all kinds of animals. It must be fun to be rich & go hunt anywhere u want to.

Yeah I hear ya about rollin in the dough. I was fortunate enough to go on two hunts in Zimbabwe with my father (he is a surgeon) The first hunt we took a .308 Remington, .270 Remington, .375 H&H, and a 12 ga S&K. Stayed 10 days out in the bush in South Zimbabwe near the South African Border. We hunted mostly Zebra, Greater Kudu, Bushbuch, Waterbuck, Impala, Giraffe, Warthog, and Eland. We also got to take out a few Black and Green Mambas while we were there.

The Second Trip was around Victoria Falls. We took a Cape Buffalo, Leopard, and a few other Antelope. That time we took the .416 Remington, .375H&H, and the 12ga S&K. On both trips I also went Guinea and Dove hunting. Trust me, the doves over there are twice the size of the ones over here, and twice as fast.

Please those keep in mind, that the animals that were harvested, were eaten and almost every part used by the local villagers. Anything that we did not consume ourselves were given to the villagers and the guides who worked for us on the hunt. Not only was the trip fun, it was also educational as far as experiencing different cultures. On a good note, one of the young guys that worked as one of our guides wanted to go to college to become a teacher. It would cost around 1500 US dollars for him to attend and graduate. We had the wonderful opportunity to provide him with his dream. Its a wonderful feeling.

On another note, can you believe while we were hunting the Cape Buffalo, (the .416 that one of the guides actually let me father use his shoulder as a rest ? That thing was so loud that it shook the ground three feet behind me! Whew!

I'm to poor to hunt elsewhere, So I'm doomed to hunt in Alabama the rest of my life. I can live with that

Truck was acting up driving home and think another "coil" is going out. Replaced four already. At least I'm not driving a Ford Focus worried its going to catch on fire!
