U joint replacement?

I read on another forum that ford stopped doing this on the F150 in 2005 my 08 has a little pop in the rear end. I was quoted 65 per u joint

Yes they are stacked, it's aggravating that it's a $25 U joint that should be able to get replaced in a driveway. And it may cost me up to 3-400 dollars for a whole new driveshaft. The 04 f1****y bites me again. Haha

Even without staked u joints on my 06, it took me the better part of two days to change both u joints because the caps and clips were so rusted. There was no way the job would have been done under the truck in a driveway.

My point being, you got it done with out having to buy a new driveshaft.

I know there is a thread on here of how a guy changed his staked u joints without having to replace the driveshaft

I said screw it and took it to the dealer, $360 for a new u joint and yoke and labor. Evidently they have to replace the yoke in order to get a new u joint in there. Who knows.. I'm just ready to be able to drive my truck again.

I wonder if that is what my 07' needs.

Its a 2WD, super cab 5.4 and it has a clunk just on initial take off and then its fine. I have yet to look at it yet though.
