Totally different applications guys. A high revving short stroke engine makes awesome power, but doesnt have the low end tq OP needs. Look at what the race trucks run, and Im not talking camping world truck series.

Holy cow are you guys going on a limb and grasping at air here. Never did I say anything about comparing two different engines (short stroke/big piston vs long stroke/small piston). That is two different applications and performance orientations.

I'm strictly talking boring out an engine 20 or 30 over. The increase in volume is minuscule, making the increase in power also minuscule. You are talking in the realm of a percent or two.

I only made the reference to "bored and stroked" as most guys use those terms loosely and mutually when they talk about modding their engine, and the boring part of it was not a major factor in any power gains they netted.

Forced Induction might see a slight improvement from increased volume, but not in the realm of double digit power gains like you would see from a stroke increase. 3 or 4%? sure. 20 to 50% gains as can be seen by a stroked block (not specifically a 5.4)?, not a fuggin chance.

A tuner on a stock block engine would net more power increases than just boring it out.

Exactly. My .02 was not to even bother with it. Its not worth it.

So rather than 800hp at 26 psi, have 800 hp at 10 psi. Everything lasts longer, boost tubes don't blow off, all bunches of good stuff. Plus I would imagine that having 500 hp off boost would be better than 300 off boost. More responsive. Just my .02 cents tho.. I look at things differently than most coming from working on **** everyday and seeing how little it takes to blow stuff completely sky high. Alot of people think that low compresson high boost is the only way to go. I would never do that.
Cool man, thanks for the explaination. I always thought our 5.4 motors can't be bored out much more than what they already have stock. It does make sense to run lowering boost to keep things reliable though. I don't know of many people running 14PSI+ on a supercharger with a daily driver vehicle.
