Interesting. What method are you using to test it? Are you using a trans brake?
I don't have a stock converter. I have a Circle D converter rated at 3000rpm.

As for the specs on the stock converter I'm going by Darrin Burch of BC Automotive who built my transmission.

"For reference, the factory stall on his truck is rated at a minimum of 2404 and a max of 2842 on a completely stock engine. With the extra torque he has with that blower it's going to push a good amount past that already and I wouldn't want to back him down performance wise with a lower stall converter.

Darrin"

I just a good ol' foot brake..... I'm sure if the engine was making more power it would push threw the converter some to around 2,200-2,400.

We are talking about what rpm the tq converter flashes and starts to lock up.

Ok. So you were at 1700 and you do realize that when doing the foot brake method you should add between 500-1000 rpms to get close to the approximate. That puts you any where from 2200-2700. But the foot brake method is meaningless as described here as is the better way of doing it. http://www.protorque.com/torque-converter-faq.html#5
"What is stall speed and how do I determine what stall I have now?

Stall speed is a term used to describe the rpm at which the torque converter transfers the power from the engine to the transmission. There are different ways to test stall speed. "Foot brake stall" is when you press the brake pedal and then press the gas pedal. When the engine rpm doesn't go any higher or the tires start to spin that is "brake stall". (DO NOT TRY THIS! THIS MEASUREMENT IS MEANINGLESS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO YOU, THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER!) "Flash stall" is when you, from a dead stop, press the gas pedal to wide open throttle (wot). Watch your tach needle, you will see the needle jump to a certain rpm, that is "flash stall". A drag racing-style trans brake will give you closer to the true stall speed of a torque converter."
