Ok I'm sure I'm about to make myself look stupid but, can you run true dual exhausts without any type of crossover piping?

You can, but you're not doing yourself any favors for scavenging. Slight loss of power and engine longevity.

And the crossover pipes maintain the longevity of the engine ? You actually lose power by doing true duals without a crossover?

Sorry to possible revive an old thread, but what would be the best size and crossover for the 4.6 if I was going to replace the rear cats with pipe and go duals our before each tire on both sides . I would like to keep most low end tourqe and so.what would be.the best size pipe to use , 2.5 inch ? This is where I get lost with all the scavenger gas information.

If the system is mandrel bent, then 2.25", if crush or smooth bent go with 2.5". The type of crossover really doesn't matter, there's such a little difference between an X and H except sound wise.

I have 2.5in magnaflows out 3.5x18 slash cut tips. Going to change it maybe monday to two of these. One out each side. And a x pipe.

Oh and all total somewhere on the range of 400

Sorry to thread jack but what do y'all think of running those tips on the f150?
