Default Truck wont start but Cranks over fine

I used the truck last night and on my way home about a mile from the house my low fuel light came on. Got home parked the truck and that was it for the night. This morning I go out to start my truck before leaving for work with the intentions on stopping to get gas at the station a half mile from the house. But all my truck did is crank over. It never tried to event fire at all. So thinking I may have ran it out. I went and got five gallons dumped it in cycled the key a few times and tried to start it. Nothing, it just cranked over. I pulled the fuse in the passenger side kick panel and it was fine. Not to sure where else to look.

If any of you guys have any ideas or past experiences with the same problem please let me know before I have it towed to the Ford Stealer! Thank you in advance for any responses!!

It's an 06 with the 5.4 with four wheel drive. Forgot to add that.

Check the fpdm that's located on the frame rail above the spare tire that could be the problem

If it's cracked or if there's a hole in it replace it the dealer should have them in stock.

What exactly is the fpdm? Is that the emergency fuel shut off?

No it's the fuel pump driver module it controls the fuel pump. A test you can do is make sure the radio is off and windows down and listen carefully turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump turning on if it does then the module is probably ok.

Ok thanks. Would that be something you would have to drop the fuel tank for or no? It's just out in the open once you remove the spare tire?

No you don't have to drop the fuel tank. Once you drop the spare tire you'll see it it's 2 bolts and a plug in the open on the frame rail.
