I do not know if it is exactly 2000rpm. I just estimated. I have to rev the truck a good bit in order to overcome the stuttering.

- When driving in 3'rd gear, the transmission shifts at about 40 - 45mph. The tach drops down a few thousand.

- When the above happens and I'm going up an incline/hill about like an on-ramp to the freeway might be, the car starts to 'stutter.' The tach twitches a little, not more than a 100 rpm and the speed stays about the same.

- If I turn off overdrive, the car downshifts, rpms go up and the stutter stops.

- If I am on flat and level ground it doesn't usually stutter.

- I've not seen this at any other speed, rpm, gear combo.

- I can press the accelerator down and get the speed up to about 50'ish and the stutter stops.

- I don't get any svc eng lights

Pretty much describes the problem better

i had a similar problem and was the cam position sensor, but i eventually got a code, but it did it for a while before i got a code, worth a try, they are cheap and easy to change (you have 2 of them)

I somewhat have the same problem, but i have shutters from when i take off. I feel it in the rear end and can feel it as i slow down from time to time. Had a shop tell me it was my rear differential/gears. haven't fixed it yet, but would like to soon

How long did it take for it to throw a code?

Ok, based on my experience, I can honestly say I am pretty sure it is your plugs. Mine did the exact same thing. Exactly like you described it, it shutters, like a jolt, like the power is going in and out, but as soon as you stomp on it or let off it goes away. I dont know about you, but mine also almost never did it anywhere except for crusing speeds where I just wanted to maintain my speed. I think if you get your plugs changed, and use the correct oem motorcraft plugs, it will go away. As soon as my plugs were changed it instantly stopped

my bet would be the plugs too, after my truck (77k at that time) had sat for about a week without starting i got that stutter right at the bottom of OD also. i ran a full bottle of lucas through it, (with about a quarter tank of fuel) and drove it like i stole it.

my plugs definitely need to be changed but the stutter went away.

Default Same thing is happening to me!

I have an 04 5.4l at 100k it began to Rev hi at 1500-1800rpm. This is range where the torque converter locks up, making it hard to differentiate the the problem. First I tried a tranny service. According to the tranny mechanic, everything looks good. This lead me to swap my plugs, and you all know what problems that lead to!! this didn't correct it either. I can accelerate through the problem rpm's, but I still don't know what is causing it.

When you find out, let me know..
thanks.
