Recently my truck has been acting rather strange. While driving roughly 45-55MPH and at 1000rpm-1500rpm when I lightly push down on the gas pedal the truck stutters. It feels almost like a hard downshift and it will keep doing this until I rev up above 2000rpm or let off of pedal. I have taken it to two different shops. One said the torque converter was going and the other shop said that it needed new plugs and a coil pack. Have any of you guys experienced something like this or know what could be causing this?

- When driving in 3'rd gear, the transmission shifts at about 40 - 45mph. The tach drops down a few thousand.

- When the above happens and I'm going up an incline/hill about like an on-ramp to the freeway might be, the car starts to 'stutter.' The tach twitches a little, not more than a 100 rpm and the speed stays about the same.

- If I turn off overdrive, the car downshifts, rpms go up and the stutter stops.

- If I am on flat and level ground it doesn't usually stutter.

- I've not seen this at any other speed, rpm, gear combo.

- I can press the accelerator down and get the speed up to about 50'ish and the stutter stops.

- I don't get any svc eng lights

It sounds like the torque converter is slipping at full lockup. You may just need a good tranny flush OR you might be in the market for a new converter.

I am having the same promblem with my 2007 f150. My truck only has 53000 on it. Should not be do it with that less of miles. I would like to see what yall think that it might be. Not try to still thread.

My 2004 non heritage with the wonderful 5.4 was doing the same thing at 88,000 miles on it .Ford dealer put new plugs in and said it didn't need new coils .Now i have 93,000 on it .It was doing the same thing .I put new coils in and that didn't help .I also have added enough Seafoam in the tank i should own stock in the company . The Ford dealer tells me now that if the engine was missing and sputtering and due to a bad coil or two there could be a spak plug or two with " carbon track " on them and i will have to find the bad plug (s) and replace and also replace the boot on the coil .I bought my F 150 with 16,000 miles on it and it has been sensitive to 87 octane gas .If i don't get a tank of premium atleast once a month and add Seafoam or an injector cleaner it does the sputtering thing .I have an appointment on tues to have it looked at and see why it is sputtering now .

150k Miles on the truck.

I took it to a transmission shop because that was my first guess. They suggested new plugs and coils. I am going to see what the Ford Dealership thinks sometime next week.

Doesn't throw any codes at me.

I had the Tanny flushed last month. The problem lessened but then came right back.

Problem does not go away regardless of overdrive.

seeing as your truck is an 05 it could be the dreaded fuel injector problem. it sounds like the solenoids in the trans are on the fritz.
