Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum here. I have an 06 Lincoln Mark LT, which is the same as an F150, so hopefully I'm welcome here
I'm having a slight issue with my truck not sitting level on the back end. I'm the original owner of my Mark and I only have 14K miles on it. I have a class 5 hitch and I towed something for the first time about 3 weeks ago, which was my friends offroad jeep on a flatbed trailer (about 3000 lbs total). The trailer had surge brakes and there were a few times when I had to stop hard which caused the trailer to lunge forward (activating the surge brakes on the trailer) and jarred my truck pretty good.
After all was said and done, when we got back home, I noticed that the rear drivers side seemed to be sitting higher than the rear passengers side (or the passenger side is lower than the drivers, etc). On a level surface, it's not really that noticable (only about a half an inch difference between ride height; the drivers side being the higher side), but it's really noticable on uneven surfaces. I took it into a body shop and they put it on their frame rack and all came out fine. They showed me where they observe all the measurements and everything came out equal and square. The frame is straight all the way around and no damage anywhere. All of my tire pressures were/are equal all the way around too.
So now I'm thinking it may be that one of my leafs is sagging in the rear. Could that be possible, even though it's only off by about a half inch? In all honesty, the truck could have been this way the whole time (even before I towed) and I just never noticed it before. Is there usually some variance (like a quarter inch to half an inch, etc) for my type of situation?
If anybody has any ideas, please let me know. Or, if I'm just over-reacting and this is a normal thing, please let me know too, lol.
Thanks for the help.
