Default Truck died in traffic. Will not idle

My 06 5.4 L just died in traffic and will now not idle.

It also does if I try to rev it up.

Stranded, give me some ideas of what to check...

Thanks

Does it start fine? How many miles? Brief recent maint. history would also be helpful.

Suddenly it started working again. It starts and idles fine now. I'm back on the road but it looks like it might be an idle control sensor.

Does that sound accurate? Anything anything else I should look for?

Also check to see if there are any codes. Specifically anything related to the VCT solenoids.

Could also try cleaning/retraining the throttle body. When I did my plugs I disconnected the PCM so I could reach the back and didn't properly retrain it when I reconnected everything and I had similar problems. Would run fine at speed but occasionally died at idle and almost always died in reverse. Took me like 3 days to figure it out.

For info see this video:

This as well. They seem to corrode and die at the most random time.

thanks to all that responded.

i was temporarily stranded in Dallas today.

i am safely home, the f150 performed like a champ the rest of the day.

i will def follow up on all suggestions and track this down.

very unsettling to be stranded, even temporarily with contacts in the area. just sucks....

thanks again, to you all that responded, i was watching and reading while i was out there...
