Default shock installation

i dont know why im having a brain fart... but does it matter which direction the shocks are installed on the rear?

the larger part should be on the bottom and the piston on the top, correct?

reason im doubting is because on motorcycles, it was orginally engineered this way, but recently, the bikes have inverted forks.

please confirm, mid install right now.
