Default truck cutting out

I have 2000 f150 with the 4.2 and it has started cutting out at low rpm or when I put it under a load. It all started on a trip and I thought I had gotten bad gas, everytime I filled back up it would act up again. I have replaced the fuel filter and put a new fuel pump and screen on it. The screen had a little bit of debris on it. The check engine light is on and it is still acting up. Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue with my 05 5.4 .......rough idle and engine light, turned out to be a bad coil on #6 I replaced it my self and she's good to go.You might want to clean your MAF sensor as well!

its the inersha switch... i had this problem with my ranger... it would just die at low RPM then i would have to wait and start it again, sometimes it wouldnt start at all... i would double check the switch i think that up until 2005 they mounted them on the firewall which created to much heat and fried the switches...

I had a problem wit hmy 5.4 cutting out under load and at lower RPM's when cruising between 40-60 MPH. It was a bad coil pack. Had the dealer diagnose the problem and they said it was the #3 coil pack. Replaced it and I have not had a problem since.
