also, try cleaning or replacing your pcv valve.
they get stuck and are most likely the cause of any newer modular burning oil.

What is the best procedure to clean pcv valves ? (clean or change ?)
Thanks

Had this issue with mine started at around 17000 miles (now has 37000 miles on it) after I decided to start doing my own oil change at that point I noticed it was down about 4qrts I really thought they were short changing me at the stealership ford claims these trucks can burn up to a quart every thousand. I told them B******* They ran some test and discovered it was burning a quart every 750-800 miles(they felt this was to much after 3 months of testing) they ended up rebuilding the top of the motor. I believe what they told me oil was getting past the valves some how, it's a little better but not to my satisfaction. Just checked it recently at around 2500 miles after last oil change and it was down about 3 qrts. this is really starting to get on my nerves,I'm at wits end not sure what to do about it other then check oil more often and refill as needed. Also it wasn't showing no sign of leaking aka smoke or any visible oil puddles either.

Squirelyy, Sounds like you have the same issue as me. Except I dont have warranty so there will be no rebuilt motor for me. I'll just keep checking it every 2-3 fill ups and see where its at. I'll change the PCV valve as well to see if it helps

How about Mobil 1 5w - 30w vs 5w- 20w. would one tend to burn less?
