Kill switch kill switch kill switch. $109 buys you a pretty nice one. The shop wires it in for you and then you can place it where ever you'd like or have them place it for you. It looks like a small screw, to activate it you simply place your hand over it and the static from your body closes the circut and allows you to start the ignition. Really a pretty cool kill switch.

that sucks dude sorry to hear that. but luckily i havent had my truck broken into and i would like to get an alarm of some type but im scared too. a friend of mine at work said his brother had circuit city install a alarm on his truck and 3 weeks later it caught on fire. it was found that it was caused by the wiring of the alarm and lucky for him he bought the extended warranty and circuit city had to buy him a new truck.

How often do you see an alarm going off in a parking lot? How often do you react to it?

Problem with car alarms is no one reacts anymore. If I break into your vehicle and the alarm goes off, I am either going to grab and run (I got your stuff anyway), disable the alarm (if I am a good thief I can do this quickly) or fumble around like I am looking for the keys to turn it off if someone looks.

Insurance on items in your vehicle if you leave anything of value in on a regular basis. Lojack to recover.

My truck was broken into twice, once was my fault (left it unlocked). But that was after I boguth it in 06.

After the last time I bought a Python Alarm System with actuators in the doors and a remote start with kill switches on the brake and hood.

The kill switch is a button or some sort of swtich, which needs to be pressed in order to start the truck. Typically they are put in a in-conspicuos place so a car thief cant find it.

With a 04 or higher though dont worry about a kill switch, all 04's have a microchip in the key which prevents it from being able to be stolen via the big screwdriver in the igntion method, so lojack I would say is the best case. Oh BTW these guys are talking about the actual truck getting taken, not protecting the things inside the truck.

A company makes a laminate which can be put over windows to prevent smash and grabs, and you can also do some custom work to your door locks, but keep in mind if you ever lock your keys in the truck you better have a spare.

actually they had the chip in the keys before 04. my 2000 has a chip in it and i wanted to get another one made and i was quoted 75 dollars. instead i had them make one that will only open the doors for 3 dollars. i actually tried to start the truck one time with that key and it would not start. the theft light started flashing and the horn started honking.

This is why I have a 600 dollar alarm. A buddy started his truck next to mine the other day and the shock pre-detect went off on my truck, and withen two seconds my remote was beeping at me telling me what happened.

Yeah I have an alarm on my truck as well, pretty sensitive to. It will usually go off when my neighbor starts his Harley or with a low flying helicopter. I really need to turn the sensitivity up a tad.

I had thieves attempt to steal my truck while it was at the repair shop. They ended up punching out the old ignition. I guess they figured they could steal the entire truck so they just made off with the wheels and tires.

Oh well it worked out for me because I got new wheels and tires and a new ignition out of the deal.

I'm confused; I would not have the steering lock installed on the wheel if I were driving. Only when it's parked. I'd find it darn near impossible to drive the truck with the steering lock installed.
