Default transmission started slipping

Hello all,
I own a 2006 supercrew larriat that just started slipping right at 70000 miles. I'm certain I picked up a burnt wire smell right at around the time it started slipping. When at idle and warm it makes a whining sound and the sound goes away once in drive but slips a little before it engages gears. Once running it seems to run fine untill you come to a complete stop then slips again at takeoff. Any ideas??? Thnks in advance..

I was thinking converter due to whining sound in park but just a wild guess...

recommended oil change is 30K. If you're sure its slipping get ready to get stranded. The burnt smell is odd but assuming its something you can locate and correct if the slipping started youre in for a rebuild.

Called ford to get it checked and said they were VERY busy with trans work. Well, I ran the truck for a few miles (about 10) to get it to a place to work on it. It really didn't run bad at all but the whining was still there when in park or neutral. Dropped the pan and found metal grindings in the pan. Took the pan to a friend (mechanic) to look at it and immediately he said it was a gonner. Got a hold of one in the junkyard and installed it and gave it a filter and oil change. Running fine for now. Talked to my inlaw about the change and he mentioned that from 06 to 08 there were lots of problems. I also read another forum and found that there have been several people with 06 trucks with tranny issues right at 70k miles. Anyone have any input on this? The tranny I just got has 54k so if this is true then I have some trouble coming soon..

I just had the same problem with my FX4, it started to slip and it didnt take long till it went completely, the first gear went out of place and then caused everything to either break or strip, i was told its due to heat, and ive done all my oil changes and i dont tow alot.
